Looking ahead to our Showcase in NYC!

Hello all,

We haven't written a blog in a while, so Shameful!!!

Well, on our defense we have been very busy creating new programs, commissioning new works etc. but I know, at the end of the day there is no excuse for the radio silence. So to remedy our lack of communication we have decided to document our trip to New York for our Ensemble Showcase presentation at the Chamber Music America's Annual National Conference, which will take place on January 8, 2016.

For those of you who may not know Chamber Music America's (CMA) Ensemble Showcases are a great way to perform for Managers, who are looking for new, talented groups to represent and program directors of various concert series and festivals, looking for interesting groups to invite and fill their programming for the next few years. It is a way to reach normally unreachable people in our industry and get to perform for them to boot.

We have put together a 20 minute program that will highlight various strengths of SOLI, and to do that we have picked 2 of our recent commissions AND probably the most iconic movement form the MOST ICONIC work written for our instrumentation, Dance of Fury, for Seven Trumpets from Olivier Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time. This crazy, all-unison-all-the-time movement is sure to display what we can do and what we have been doing for the past 22 years!!
We have also selected the first movement from Robert Xavier Rodriguez' highly lyrical Musica, por un tiempo (a 2010 SOLI commission), and again the first movement from composer Pierre Jalbert's highly energetic, mixed meter powerhouse Street Antiphons (a 2015 SOLI commission).

Carolyn and I will travel to New Jersey to meet up with David and Stephanie, who are already there visiting family, and rehearse for a couple of days before we head into the City.

Check back often to see our daily updates.
